Happy Easter! I just caught this in a minnow trap and I’m wondering what it is. I caught it in a creek behind my house and I’m thinking it’s a shiner or bass but I’m not sure.🎣

Family: Gasterosteidae Genus: Culaea They commonly have 5 isolated spines, as seen in the first photo. However, I got lucky and found one with 6. Some cool facts about the Brook stickleback: - The male builds a a barrel shaped nest from organic matter (held together by kidney secrations) on a divergent plant stem - They grow rapidly, and can reach sexual maturity in one year - they can tolerate salt water - they are quite rowdy and are quick to harass and kill other small fishes Have you had any experience with the sticklebacks?
