Giant kelpfish

Catch and release. Tight lines. Saw some dolphins 🐬 swimming around then it ‘s time to go home.

caught it near the rocks. thought I was snagged on kelp/seaweed couple times but realized I was getting bites, possibly from these guys.

Temperature was warm and we spent an afternoon at the Deer Creek Beach until sun set. It was such a beautiful day relaxing at the beach. It always felt good wetting the line and eating out once a while. Thanks my friend Edmond giving me a cute little jar of fresh salmon roe and other stuff. Nice 👍.

My dad and I went fishing down around Santa Cruz and Monterey for a few days. We didn’t get much but had fun and caught a few cool things, like this Giant Kelpfish. I caught one half this size poke poling once late last year. This one on a sabiki type rig with squid tentacles as bait. The pattern on his skin was so beautiful.
