Pretty sure this is my first Australian Salmon "Sambo" or decent one anyway. Might have caught one many years ago but can't remember. It's good to be back in the sport I love most. I'd just bought a new big rod for Shore jigging and brought that down. Was quite all morning. I put that big rod down and grabbed the little 1 to 4kg flick stick with the Sustain FJ 2500. This was the fish I wanted to catch. I'd seen a guy here the week before who caught one. Just before I got this one I thought I need to catch a Sambo. Not long after casting in I saw something jump out the water and thought it was probably just a mullet. About 5 minutes later boom. I thought what's this? Another pinky or Trev. Then the fish realised it was hooked and started to run. The little sustain FJ was screaming. Such a great drag sound on this reel. I tightened the drag and it was still going hard. Was such an awesome fight. That little 6'6 rod was bent over hard. Took it like a champ. Got the fishes head out of the water. Didn't have a net but I managed to land it. Hopefully with this cold there's many more to come. They've been feeding off of all the little jelly prawns. Excuse the language in the video 😜 definitely got the heart pumping. First nice fish since I've been back
