60cm salmon Caught a few good size leather jackets and bream in Watson’s bay wharf in early morning. But didn’t catch any trevally. Really wanted to have some trevally sashimi dinner so then went to the rock to have a try. Didn’t get any bite at all, when I was just gonna retrieve back in and leave, big fish on. Was using super light Palms Pinwheel ajing rod and Daiwa aird 2000. 8lb braid and 12lb leader. So I was bit worried. Slowly retrieved and fought the fish about 5 minutes. In the last second when I was landing the fish, line snapped. If the line snaps one more second earlier I would have lost that fish. My bucket was full and I couldn’t put the big salmon in. So I gave all the leatherjks and breams to other fishermen. Lucky day😚 People said that salmon tastes real bad. I took the fish home and filleted. Seasoned with salt and pepper, paprika and a little bit of garlic powder. Pan fried with olive oil, finally gave a splash of red wine. And that actually tastes real good. I also tried teriyaki and it was good too. The only thing is that the meat tastes a bit sour, but i usually eat fish with few drops of lemon juice anyway so that was totally fine. Next time if you guys catch big salmon . Don’t throw it back in, try this recipe or teriyaki, actually tastes not bad at all, there are a lot of tutorials of how to make teriyaki chicken on YouTube, cook the fish in the same way, you will definitely love it.
