Can someone help me identify a little flathead looking fish in my tank? Have had him for a while now and can’t for the life of me figure out what he actually is.. He looks like some kind of flathead but he glides rather than swims, prefers to hang around the top of the tank and never goes on the sand on the bottom of the tank but is predatory towards the feeder fish. 🤔

Just wanted to share my little saltwater aquarium cause I don’t have any friends who will actually appreciate it. It’s been thriving for a couple months now and just gets more interesting and active every week. They say saltwater aquariums are expensive but my partner and I have managed to do it for $100. Only costs were the actual tank ($50) water nutrients and immune system support ($30) and a piece of coral ($20) Everything else was acquired from nature or I already had it laying around at home for my freshwater tank. I love it so much. Highly recommend if you love to watch natural wildlife 😍

“Rocky” the Southern rock flathead, in my home saltwater aquarium. Caught him with my hands when he was a little fingerling and took him home as an experiment to see if I could make a wild fish adapt to tank life, expecting him to die within a day…but as it turns out… he’s surviving, thriving, and eating a big diet of prawns and fish every day. I swear I just watch him for a good 3 hours every day. Who knew that a flathead could be such a wildly interesting pet 🤣 🤷🏻‍♀️
