its been quite a while since I was out last, this scarred up teen was very welcome.

This stunning mid-twenties female was fish number 1 from today, and man is she about ready to burst! This is the first female I've seen in a while. It's been all males lately. This well built young Male was fish number 2 from today. Hes young but looks like hes been through a war. His tail is messed up and one of his eyes was popped out further than the other, random scars and is just about ready to spawn. *The importance of Catch and release* I went out last night for a couple hours, got some bait out and then the rods as normal... about an hour and a half went by with no signs of fish anywhere. Then about 100 yards down a fish showed. I saw it clear as day, a good thick fish! Definitely over 30lbs. So I reeled in one rod and cast down to where the fish showed. About 45 minutes later the rod buckled over with a slowly accelerating tone from the alarm. Judging from the take alone I knew it was a good fish, but what I didn't expect was an 8 and a half minute battle with a freight train! And a recapture! I named this fish "Popeye" last spring because of the way he is built. He weighed in at 28lbs last year and put up and epic battle with multiple runs! This body of water is definitely thriving and full of natural food because he has put on 5lbs since last year! Weighed in at 33lbs. I cannot express enough how happy and blessed I am to see this fish again especially with bowfishing season just heating up. I hope to encounter you again my friend!

Last nights prize for being persistent after losing a really good fish close to the net. This long, lean Male was a nightmare to do battle with!
