Finally, the best catch of this summer 🌞

Fishing has been challenging lately; I've only managed to catch one tiny bass in this beautiful lake today. I’m grateful—he saved me from being skunked.😭

Fought hard for about 2 hours, and finally landed it with a gaff off of my yacht.

Following posts of lake Aquitaine trout, I popped over in the afternoon after a late start to the day. The fishing platform was full of parents and children learning to fish, and there were plenty of sunfish under the weed for everyone. After fighting the wind and weeds, I gave up on the trout and targeted the small guys. These guys were obviously very used to ppl, and would learn very quickly what not to eat. I spotted a little bass in an open spot in the weeds and started dropping flies in front of him. Unfortunately he kept outsmarting me, barely nipping the flies to find out that they're not food, then ignoring them. I finally had a solid hook on, but in my excitement I pulled too hard, forgetting that I'm not using an actual fly rod, and snapped the tippet. I wish there were more accessible spots here. Seems like a very nice place for kids to learn, but was very crowded.
