Lovely evening with loads of action happening in the shallow waters around me. Had around 8 bass and 6 mackerel, bass taking the soft plastics, savage gear Sandeel in blue, drift shoal shad white red head, and the Fiiish black minow khaki, mackerel were smashing the Dexter's wedge. loads of bait fish jumping out the water and beaching themselves, and to top it off we saw a load of dolphins jumping out the water right in front of me. One of the best lure sessions I think I've experienced so far. Nothing huge tonight with the biggest bass going at 49cm. What an absolute stress buster! 👌🎣

A short window of opportunity in the eye of the storm! Managed to get myself up early enough to witness a beautiful sunrise, had 1 hour of fishing and was sure that I was getting some hits on my sidewinder weedless minow. Once the tail had been nabbed off I realised that something was after it and I needed to change things up a little bit to help the fish locate the lure easier. The conditions were quite awkward as far as lure fishing was concerned, the water looked like something out of Charlie and the chocolate factory and the swells were more than ample. I decided to try something new, a black minow 18gm in French paradise with rattles. I was more than certain it would work. And with no surprise on my second cast the fish pounced and struck like thunder pulling line off the reel and bending my rod down almost touching the shingle beneath my feet! Best experience of adaptation with lures I’ve done on my own accord, After all the YouTube videos, asking loads of questions and my own trial and error practice, I’m actually starting to think I know what I’m doing. 😂😂😂

What an absolute belter of a weekend for me and the boys! We spent Saturday afternoon watching Torquay united thrash welling united 5-1, followed by a few well earned pints and lemonades at the local. Today we decided to go for another shot at lure fishing for the bass, whilst the weather was still holding up…this time we were in for a treat. After arriving later than expected, (literally midday), we still managed to hook into an absolute unit of a fish! This thing needed plenty of line to tire itself out, especially using just a small 40g spinning rod. The adrenaline was circulating and the reel was screaming! When I finally thought the brute had enough, it jetted back out into the current and gave one last pull before we managed to get him close enough to land. Just when I was ready to call it a day and completely Jack in the lure fishing, I finally managed to land myself a half descent bass on a soft plastic..it has literally taken me 3 years of trial and error, loosing fish and lures, on hundreds of different marks to land a fish this size from the shore. Looking forward to giving it a second chance after todays session 🎣🐟
