Late upload of the last trip. This is half the haul for three of us, all snaps, and the smallest two would be mine 😂. Can't remember the gears as I think I switched rod setup partway through, and was really not firing myself, took about fifteen minutes to get the first hook baited! 🙄 meanwhile five fish were already on the boat by then. Biggest fish of the day was dropped at the boat, wee net mishap, d'oh! Oh and one of my rods got snapped in the truck on the way home. Best successful unsuccessful day out so far hahah!

Great start to Sunday.

Baby shark do do do! One of two babies reeled in and probably related to the biggun that snapped my line - again!

Same three of us in the other boat today. 8 keepers kept, more thrown back as well as the undersized. First fishing injury too... the first on the boat and tied longest (I caught one same size later) got dropped on my foot spines first. Three sharks, two we let go and one who let me go (see other post), and a lonely yellowtail (jack makerel, previously said it was kahawai) caught on the sabiki. Ooh and my first double hookup, both keepers! Another good day on the Kaipara.

#BestCatch is the #FirstCatch am I right? My first effort in 20 years, first ever off a boat, first bigger than my hand 😂. Pictured is 13 snapper and 1 trevally. I reeled in 11 snap and the trev, hooked at least half the snapps myself. Weighed in the biggest 4 at all roughly 1.3kg, and the trev was 1.8kg. Not bad for a beginner I say!
