Boxelder Reservoir #3

For my first fishing outing of the year, I took my kayak to Boxelder Reservoir #3 near Wellington. I've always done well there and today was no exception. I caught 8 or so trout in a little over an hour before the wind picked up. While I was there, the stocking truck dropped off another load of trout.

I dusted off the kayak and logged my first fishing trip of the year. I landed about 10 trout in 2 hours on a beautiful morning. I'm hoping to hook into a pike on this lake one of these days - I know they're in here.

The weather was interesting today, with waves of wind and rain showers rolling through. I started by targeting pike, but haven't had any luck with those. So I switched gears and caught a handful of trout. One of which looked like it almost fell victim to a toothy pike.

Out on the water for the first time this year, I landed three rainbow trout. I lapped this small lake a few times in my kayak and trolled at a slow pace. Quite a few other anglers fishing from shore - I think they were targeting the pike that are frequently caught here.
