Teaching myself how to fish at 26 years old, had gone to this spot twice before and couldn’t catch anything but today was the first time I ever caught a fish in my life first one was a blue gill and 2nd was this bass. Caught a few blue gill after that as well. Can’t wait to get more into this hobby!

First one of the year

Mid October bass

So quite a story with this guy and it's my first big fish! PB Bass by a long shot! I was catching some big female Bluegills, maybe 6" and tossing them back in. I was sitting on a manhole cover up high, so I had to climb down a little to toss them back without hurting them. I tossed a big one back, she tears out to my right and I saw this huge Bass go tearing out after her. I was shocked, I had no clue he was there. I kept hearing him splash around trying to catch other fish and I couldn't really catch anymore Bluegill. (I'd be hiding too!). I had my light gear rod and a small hook, he tried to go for that. So I decided I'm going to catch this monster. Pull out the medium/heavy rod, with an 888 Zebco and 25 lb monofilament. Put a red wiggler on a #2 hook and he went right for it! He fought pretty hard and it was difficult pulling him out of the water. Even harder to grab his mouth, he was feisty! Finally got him off and put him back in the water. I estimated his weight, but he was between 2 1/2' and 3' long. I dropped my phone in the water in accident and soaked my one foot putting him back, but it was totally worth it! My phone is ok, thank goodness! Awesome first big fish!!!

Feisty little Bass I caught on the first cast. Got the Bluegill later towards the end of the evening.

Caught a tiny bass and quite a few Bluegill. Just got a picture of the biggest one, about 5 1/2".
