Recent Catches At Middle Patuxent River

This was a hard good exercise fish. I fished down river from Cedar Lane. Caught breem and a fall fish. Then in the hole under Rte 32, I connected with a small bass. I was not even paying attention and the bass was on. I was in the right place at the right time. The tough part was walking out. Getting out of the river required wading across the river (a cinch when you are 20 but difficult when you are 77) climbing up to the trail (I had to cut my way out and encountered poision ivy), and following the deer and teenager path to the road. I also caught my foot on a dead tree and a face plant while walking out). I am very lucky to have survived COVID last Christmas with no symptoms and be able to fish like this at my age. Hope you-all as lucky as I have been.

It looks like the Trout Magnet Jig and the Berkley Power Bait Minnow (or equivalent) show some promise as a Summer fishing lure. These two bass both went for the lure. They are not large fish, but they arevthe targht fish. Main problem with this lure is fishing in weeds. In rivers there are fewer weeds making it more effective there. At Lake Elkhorn, it is much less effective because of the weeds especially the slimy algea.
