My lovely wife and I got a late start today. Shortly after getting to "our spot", she suffered a low blood sugar incident, we had to rush back to the truck to get a fix. For those of you that may be diabetic, what do you stash in the boat, for such situations? Fishing seems to have slowed a bit. We are, according to the fish finder, on top of the fish, they just aren't to fond of what we are throwing at them. This was the prize winner today. A couple small bass, a couple tiny Northern Pike, a very tiny perch on a very large hook all made it in, and out of the boat to fight another day. We release far more than we keep. and today was no exception. Happy Fishing!

My lovely wife and I purchased this tiny little dinghy a couple months ago. We have been fishing in the big boat, this morning I took the Dinghy, named Coste Gard, into the weedy shallows near our cabin. Maiden voyage... using a 20 dollar used trolling motor I initially just wanted to try it out. Now I'm a pretty big boy and had some concerns about stability. I wasn't about to host a square dance party, but all in all felt pretty secure. Being an opportunist, I also brought a rod and light tackle. Using a knock off Rapala type lure, I trolled with a floater. Im sorry I dont have a picture, my wife would not let me bring the phone... but near as I can figure, I hooked into a dogfish/ bowling. Something I've never caught. This thing pulled my fat ass on the dinghy for ten minutes... great fun.

First a little back story. My wife and I bought a cabin just off Lake Minnewawa in Aitkin County, Minnesota two weeks ago. Avid fisher people we are not. But we have discovered fishing, being in the boat together, is something we both enjoy. My wife gets bragging rights on the first catch of the year. ( the one pictured ) she pulled this out of 7 feet of water on a jig tipped with a jelly and a meal worm. 20 minutes later I pulled a gilly with a floating Rapala, about the same size. Now we do not know "our" lake at all, well, we know where to launch the boat... I'm most open to any hints for those who might be familiar with this pond.
