Recent Catches At Primrose Brook

Ryan Jones
After several outings, trying for multiple different species in multiple different rivers and lakes, I'm finally on the board again. I've probably toughed out 7 cold, winter days since the last rainbow I caught in early January, going for pike, pickerel, bass, panfish, and trout. Very happy with these 2 little brook trout. Primrose Brook is doing well, I probably saw around 30 brookies. I caught the first one on a little olive wooly bugger, and the second one on a tiny blue zebra midge. These are also the first fish I caught on my new 3 weight fly rod. Hopefully I will have more success in February.

Caught 2 nice little brookies yesterday. Took advantage of the warm weather when it was here. Tried fly fishing again, to no avail, but I caught these with a little jig and a plastic worm. Saw about 4 different fish take it but I was too slow. Probably could have caught more too, but the biggest pool, a deep, slow moving section caused by a giant tree blockage was ruined by a group of hubdreds of starlings. It sounded like thunder when they flew at the same time. I'm just happy I caught some fish. I'll probably try fly fishing when the fish are more active and it's easier.
