Broke my reel:-)

Our first day fishing of the season:-) my daughter and I are doing winter cleanup at our Airbnb in Lake Luzerne. Fishing and scenery here is truly gods country. Saw an eagle and osprey fighting above us, spotted 4 deer, and a flock of turkey on the way to get pizza… check out our Airbnb listing “Adirondack wooded retreat” if I’m available, I’ll guide you for an evening of top water hog hunting while you stay:-)

I haven’t had time or opportunities to fish much these days… unfortunately my new reality. However tonight, the time was right:-) second cast and he hit like a hand grenade!! I had hits almost every cast afterwards until I lost my jitterbug and went back to work;-)

#catch23 Hit the mettowee at dawn on upper turnpike waterfall, beautiful but no fish.. worked all day on the old Schroon farmhouse, found a cool axe head digging deck piers (maybe the same one used for making the hand hewn beam’s back in the 1840’s!) hit Brant lake outlet, nobody there weather has become cool and fall like. I fished at town dump for this little fella, caught him using grandpa’s trick of stand back 30’ and cast where you want to stand:-). Kitchen was empty at the house, made a feast from expired foods and two pork chops;-)

Hot day, perfect for a swimming hole on a cool stream. Caught a couple 6” rock bass, lots of crayfish and baby bullhead to chase in the shallows;-)! Truly idyllic swimming hole that Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer would have enjoyed!

Caught this guy on 5’ of line, casting my buddies bat lure 15’ across the current coming from the steel culvert and caught this guy! First he missed, I left it on the water and he hit it again!! Small pool, chunky 19.5” bass! #catch22 Oh yeah, caught his little brother 13” the same way:-)
