Rush Creek Lake

Went to rushcreek tonight for a few hours. Had planned to stay later and try to catch a few topwater fish but the wind was insane and I decided to not try to fight it. . . Fished for about 2-2 1/2 hours and caught a couple on a chatterbait. My typical chatterbait rod is having a new tip put on it so I decided to give this @mach_nation x @lews_fishing Mach Smash a whirl with the chatterbait. Although it isn’t my ideal chatterbait setup, it handled these two little chunks great in 20-25 mph winds and managed to wrestle the bigger of the 2 out of a lay down. I typically use this particular combo for soft plastic swimbaits on a belly weighed hook, or I absolutely love this combo for underspins. My typical chatterbait setup has a little shorter rod (7’) which I prefer for skipping as I’m not the tallest person. . . Fished a bit this morning before it got too hot at Rushcreek. Caught 6 total fish in about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Pictured are the best 4. Biggest weighed at 2 pounds and the smallest was right at 1 pound. Caught a few smaller ones that we didn’t keep for the picture. . . All of my fish were caught on a @wootungsten flipping jig in the bream color. Pictures are attached of the jig. My uncle caught his fish on a Junebug @thezoombaitcompany curly tail worm. . . Combo: @lews_fishing Mach 2. Rod is 7’ MH fast action with a 7.5:1 gear ratio reel. Line: @fishseaguar invizx 17 pound fluorocarbon.
