Recent Catches At Unknown Pond

16 inch brook trout!!!. My pb by far. Drove 2.5 hours and hiked another 30 minutes to get to Unknown Pond in Ferdinand and it paid off. I was able to take a boat out on the pond(the book where I found this pond said the boat was for anyone to use), and fished for about 5 hours. I went back to my roots of fishing a spinner on my ultra light setup and it was just awsome. There were so many brook trout in this lake. It took a while to figure out that they were a little deeper, but once I started anchoring the boat, I was catching a ton of fish. I'm almost positive the giant was stocked, although I don't know if it would be a broodstock or a large holdover. I do think that the second biggest fish i caught, the colored up male, is actually a wild fish. There was a survey done on the pond and about 20% of the fish are wild. I also caught a golden shiner on the fly, not sure if they are native to the pond or not, but I let it go. Today was just the perfect fall day to go fishing, and I was rewarded for going out.
