Shallowed up. Would’ve killed then in a boat today.

Rough day but got what I came for. Great fighter and awesome to put together all I've learned my past 3 trips to get a new species

Fun Saturday down at Clinton to celebrate the end of the first week of the spring semester (I've got so many late assignments now lol). Rewarded for the long drive and dealing with high winds with a wiper on the first 5 casts. Forced to a less than ideal spot due to heavy crowds but the underspin with a white paddle tail still got it done. Slow retrieve in upper water collumn. Managed to pick up a couple more dinks as this school went through chasing some shad. Moved around a bit as the winds picked up and people began to leave and found another on a blade bait bombed into the wind, hit it as soon as it hit the water. Wind died down around mid afternoon and so did the wiper bite. Switched to crappie and caught tons of whites, blacks, and hybrids. Sunset decided to cast the underspin again and hooked up on 2 more back to back. These things hit hard and fight even harder. Good test of gear and great to feel something pull like that again. Great winter fishing and lots of fun. Only regret is absolutely screwing up my hookset on a probable blue cat takedown. Guess I'll be back...

Last thing I expected when I tossed out my 6 ounce weight with a big shad with the tail cut off of him. I've only ever caught a few wipers. Happy to say I set a pb for my birthday trip! He was a fun fun fight! 10 lbs 1 ounce.

Ain't much to look at but it (and 4 others) broke a streak of 3 trips with only the skunk to show for it. What a gorgeous day to be out too....esp for mid-Dec. Hope you're finding fish somewhere.

On the way in passed the only other angler I saw here who said "small bass n cats; you'll catch something". Prophetic! Prob half a dozen dinksters and a few small crappie. Looking for more excitement than that but beat the skunk. What a gorgeous day for Nov 6th....wow. Glad I could get out.
