Back fishing the spawn at the best kept secret fishing spot in Iowa with my buddy. Day 1 was a success.

. Could've been better, but it could've been worse. Every day is a good day to wet a line.

Finally made it to my all time favorite place to fish today, the watershed. Couple hundred acre private "pond" that is full of huge bass that only sees pressure when I'm in town. 😂 It did not disappoint today. Fished from about 4 this afternoon to about 9. It was one after another. Biggest fish today was almost 7 pounds. Several 4 to 6 pounders. They were crushing the Bellows Gill. I broke out the giant PB Rat Wakebait right as the sun went down and first cast that 7 pounder annihilated it. Very next cast, 5.29 pounder hit right when it hit the water. Only 39 more days of this. 😁

I need some help identifying this fish. I think it's a Smallmouth bass but not 100% positive. I checked my 1978 encyclopedia Britannica, fishing edition, and it was no help. It weighed about 15 pounds in my online expert opinion. Thanks in advance for your help.. #catch22

It was about 21:00 tonight and I was sitting with the family in the living room and my wife said to me, "it's cooled off outside, I thought you would go fishing," Being a quick thinker I said, "yes I am, was just relaxing another 5 minutes," I had not planned on going because I thought she might not be happy to have me gone all day and night fishing. Apparently she was ok with it, so I headed to the pond. Caught all these Bluegill with a bunch of old hot wheels race tracks I fashioned into a sword. Time to do it all over again tomorrow. #catch22

109 degrees out with the heat index but I wanted to try a different pond. These 3 mega Bluegill were well worth blacking out, heat stroke and loss of 20 pounds in water weight. I would do it all again. Caught these 3 beasts with a Route 44 Blue Raspberry slush from Sonics. #catch22
