Lake Devin

Went to Lake Devon (a small municipal reservoir) for a short 2 hour session of trolling for catfish. However, I landed 5 LMB including 3 dinks, one 16” 2.5 pounder, a 4.0 lb 18.5” beast and a nice crappie. All were released. Once again, the Rapala 2” Jointed Shad (Clown) did most of the damage. Beautiful fall Carolina day.

Took a couple of hours to cast and troll for bass but ended up catching two nice catfish instead.

Little bass, 1 of 4 bites. Lots of large shad schools at the surface in 8 to 9 feet of water. Tried: shad rap, shad rat'l'trap, shad chatterbait, Berkley Storm shad swimtail, Yum flickertail shad and shad whopper plopper. Only the chatterbait with swimtail trailer and the 4 inch flickertail shad got bites.

The bite was relatively slow today but I did catch 5 cats (one keeper), a crappie and a bait sized bass. I also managed to land a 6’ 6” Lew’s Speed Stick Combo. I’m guessing it will clean up well. The reel still works.
